Planet Tree Workshop for Almaden Valley Families

Learn about urban forests and how to take care of the trees in our community. This workshop features a fun presentation for kids ages 6-12, as well as information for adults about how to get a tree for a small donation.

This workshop is presented in partnership with Our City Forest. The mission of Our City Forest is to cultivate a green and healthy San José metropolis by engaging community members in the appreciation, protection, growth and maintenance of our urban ecosystem, especially our urban forest.

The workshop is at Almaden Branch Library on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 3:30-4:30pm.

Healthy Tails Dog Hike

Almaden Valley neighbors, leash up your dogs and join the Healthy “Tails” dog hike at Quicksilver Park on Saturday, November 5 from 9am to 11am. A guide from California K9 Solutions will be teaching participants how to enjoy outdoor activities as they and their dogs hike the 2.5 mile Wood Road Trail. 3-Mile Fall Nature Hike in Calero’s Rancho San Vicente

Join a Park Docent on a 3-mile hike to enjoy the changing landscape of Fall at Rancho San Vicente.

Enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding foothills and discover how these rolling serpentine grasslands provide critical habitat for endangered species.

Meet at Calero Reservoir, then carpool to a trail nearby. Bring water, snacks and camera. Wear sun protection and sturdy hiking shoes. No dogs.

This is a guided hike in a “closed area” not yet open for public access, group travels together. Restrooms not available. except at reservoir meeting location.

The hike is Saturday, October 15, 2011, 9am-12pm. Reservations required. Register online or call (408) 355-224.
