Almaden Valley Women’s Club Community GrantsThe Almaden Valley Women’s Club will be accepting applications for community grants from educational institutions and local non-profits from now until November 17, 2012.

Any organization which has 501c3 status from the IRS is eligible to apply. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Late applications will not be accepted. The awards will be announced on December 10, 2012.

Almaden Super Lions Blanket Drive for the Less Fortunate

Almaden Super Lions ClubThis year the Almaden Super Lions will host a Blanket Drive to collect new and gently used clean blankets for the less fortunate in the South San Jose community.

In the last three years, the organization has collected more than 2,500 blankets for Sacred Heart. The drive will take place on November 11, 2012 from 10am to 2pm. Blankets can be dropped off at the locations listed below.

StartOrganic to Host Free Trade Farmers Market in Amaden Valley

Almaden Valley Produce ShareStartOrganic will be hosting a free trade farmers market at The Studio by Angi on October 20, 2012 from 10am to 2pm. Instead of paying cash for organic vegetables, flowers and seeds, participants are encouraged to barter and exchange what they bring from their home gardens. StartOrganic will also bring a great deal of its own organic goods.

Almaden Valley Hosting San Jose District 10 and Senate District 15 Election Forum

Almaden Valley Community Association will host an election forum on October 18, 2012 in the parish hall at Holy Spirit Church in Almaden Valley.

The forum will begin at 7pm and should wrap up by approximately 9pm. The schedule of events will include a debate between San Jose District 10 council candidates Robert Braunstein and Johnny Khamis, and a debate between Jim Beall and Joe Coto, candidates for the California Senate District 15.
