Help prevent the tough economy from discouraging students to attend their Proms. The City of San Jose, in partnership with the Office of Councilmember Madison Nguyen, present Operation Prom Dress 2011.

Donate a new or gently used dress at the donation box inside Almaden Library through April 4, 2011. This is the third year in a row that Ms. Nguyen has led the effort to collect prom dresses for junior and senior girls to wear to their high school proms. In 2010 the drive collected more than 800 dresses.

In past years local dry cleaners, make up artists, and hair stylists have sponsored their services to some of the girls. If you would like to donate your services this year, whether for one girl or several, please contact Lan Thao Nguyen, Council Assistant to Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen, at 408-535-4959.
